I happened to be visiting family in the area at the time when an issue I noticed recently with my car started to act up a bit more. I came across Scotty’s as a very recommended location and reached out at 12pm today to describe the concerns I was experiencing. Scotty himself answered and immediately was happy to fit me in at 1:30pm the same day! I showed up, they did a diagnostic and test drive to gauge the issue. Turns out it truly isn’t anything immediate and just a hiccup that jeeps typically can have with shifting lower gears (my previous wrangler did it as well but it was older, this vehicle is a 2021 so it was just more concerning). The mechanic assured me there were no codes or any red flags to indicate transmission issues, but to see if my vehicle still fell under the Jeep extended warranty in case any codes began to populate in the future. What truly amazed me here was, there was no charge for any of this. My dealership back home charges $200 just for the same diagnostic and test drive that they did for me here for free. I really cannot begin to thank Scotty’s and the team enough for giving me a sound mind and future advice. If I didn’t live three hours away, this would be my go-to repair shop. I do know though, that any time I’m down here to visit family, if I know there’s work I need done on my car I will absolutely be scheduling it here. That, and I’ll be recommending everyone I know around here to this shop. If a rubber nail (or something similar) is stuck in your tire, it might be repairable… depending on where the puncture sits and how deep it went. Punctures in the tread area are often workable with the right patching technique, though if the damage is in the sidewall or the shoulder then it usually means replacing the tire is the safer route.
At Scotty’s Automotive Services, we inspect the tire carefully, like actually check it all around, before saying yes or no to a repair. We put safety first, and we confirm the fix should stay solid over time.
Tire markings like 225/65R17 tell you quite a lot. Usually the first number is the tire width, measured in millimeters. Then you get the aspect ratio, or in other words the sidewall height, and the last part, the R followed by 17, tells you the wheel diameter in inches.
At Scotty’s Automotive Services, we make it easier to read all those specs fast so your tires match your vehicle needs, for better handling , safety , and just overall performance.
Brake repair services generally include swapping out worn brake pads, checking the rotors and if needed replacing them, inspecting the calipers, and looking at the brake fluid condition. Then we do a thorough inspection, so every part in the braking system works together, not just one component at a time.
At Scotty’s Automotive Services, we handle brake service in a complete way, so you can feel confident in your vehicle’s stopping power, whether you are commuting or driving somewhere busier.
Checking transmission fluid generally means the engine should be warm and running. You find the dipstick, wipe it clean, put it back in, then pull it out again to check both the fluid level and how it looks. It should sit at the proper level and look fairly clean, not dark, or kind of burnt smelling.
Since the exact steps can vary from car to car, it matters that you follow the correct process. At Scotty’s Automotive Services, we can also look over your transmission fluid and the whole system, so you know it’s working the way it should.
Some common signs of a battery that’s going bad include slow engine cranking, dim lights inside , or even out on the road, and needing jump starts more often than you used to. Most batteries run about three to five years, though extreme heat or cold can cut that time down. At Scotty’s Automotive Services, we test your battery and your charging system too, to figure out if replacement is actually necessary , so you can avoid those annoying surprises where the car won’t start.
